Today’s trends, along with the technological evolution, UAV represents a very best “tool” for rapid mapping, for topographic and cartographic purposes, land monitoring, terrain modeling, 2D and 3D feature extraction, 3D reconstructions and other GIS analyzes.
Either is wing or multi-copter, it depends only of the final purpose of the data. Both flight technologies are based on non-metric camera sensors of very good quality, close to , or even full frame cameras. The existing software, developed especially for UAV processing , are able to obtain ( based on processing with GCPs) very good results for very high resolution acquisition (2-3 cm GSD).
